UPLANDS ELEMENTARY is hiring!
We are seeking applicants for a grade 3 Homeroom Teacher to join our team of dedicated educators, under a temporary contract from August 26, 2025 to February 13, 2026.
Uplands Elementary, located in Brooks, Alberta, is a part of the Grasslands Public Schools community of locations within the City of Brooks and the surrounding County of Newell. Uplands serves approximately 450 students in Pre-Kindergarten, Early English Language Learner, and Kindergarten to grade 6, classrooms. Students receive a full range of academic offerings and extra-curricular programs to our students including: sports, arts and coding clubs.

MOVING EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENT FOR QUALIFYING NEW HIRES!NEW TEACHERS WHO HAVE ACCEPTED EMPLOYMENT WITH THE DIVISION AND MUST RELOCATE FROM ANOTHER TOWN, CITY OR PROVINCE, WILL BE REIMBURSED FOR THEIR MOVING EXPENSES UP TO THE LIMITS NOTED BELOW. THIS APPLIES TO TEACHERS ON PROBATIONARY CONTRACTS, AND INTERIM AND TEMPORARY TEACHING CONTRACTS FOR FIVE (5) OR MORE CONSECUTIVE MONTHS. EMPLOYEES RELOCATING FROM:

  • Red Deer and north of Red Deer - actual cost up to one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500.00).
  • South of Red Deer, excluding a 110 KM radius around the city of Brooks [Alberta] - actual cost up to one thousand dollars ($1,000.00).
  • Other provinces/countries - actual cost up to two thousand dollars ($2,000.00)
  • 100% of benefit premiums paid (Extended Health, Dental, Vision, Extended Disability, Life, AD&D).
  • Health Spending Account (for contracts of at least 5 consecutive months).
  • Paid Sick Leave of 20 days for the first year and 90 days thereafter.
  • Family Medical Leave of 3 days per year.
  • Paid Personal leaves, combined 4 granted per year, 1 day at full pay and 3 days at loss of sub (contracts 5 months or more).
  • Grasslands Public Schools has partnerships with the City of Brooks Recreation Services and Anytime Fitness, to offer discounts at the JBS Canada Centre and Anytime Fitness, on memberships and passes, for Grasslands employees and qualifying family members.

Responsibilities

  • use various assessment tools to evaluate and communicate student progress;
  • meet with parents or guardians regarding the student’s learning status;
  • volunteer to supervise extracurricular and after-school activities;
