For over 125 years, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing quality social services to the neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens, and currently offers 160-plus programs and services for children, youth, adults, seniors, and those struggling with mental illness.
Our Early Childhood Development Centers provide free Early Head Start and Head Start services to low-income families. Head Start provides services to children age 3 to 5 years old. Through the Montessori approach, the center ensures children are ready for school by providing a variety of developmentally appropriate activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, language-literacy and physical development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 60 credits including 24 credits in Education or Early Childhood Education required.
• Bachelor’or Degree/Master Degree in Education or Early Childhood Education; CDA required or 24 credits in Education or Early Childhood Education for Degree in unrelated field.
• MA/MS in Early Childhood Education or N.Y.S. Initial/Professional Certification - Birth-2 preferred.
• 2 years of teaching experience in a preschool classroom environment preferred.
• 300 hours supervised student teaching (one half with children under 6 years) or 1 year paid teaching experience with children under 6 years.
• If not already obtained CDA or 24 credits in Education or Early Childhood Education, must commit to complete the CDC training program within the first year of hire.
• If not already Montessori trained, must commit to enroll in the Agency’s Montessori training program within the first year of hire.
• Bilingual Spanish/English; Russian/English; Chinese/English; Korean/English; English/Creole speaking preferred.
• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
• Able to travel to multiple locations within the five boroughs as needed.
