Description The Middle School History Teacher develops and delivers engaging instruction in history aligned with Core Knowledge/Classical curriculum standards. The teacher contributes to the school’s mission by helping students understand historical concepts, develop analytical skills, and connect past events to present and future contexts. Utilize valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals while addressing the whole child: cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. Employ a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials to provide creative teaching experiences. Plan programs of study tailored to the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students, challenging each to achieve their best work. Maintain a clean, organized, and attractive classroom environment. Maintain proper discipline in the classroom and throughout school premises to ensure a productive learning environment. Keep accurate attendance, grade records, and student progress reports using the student information system. Assess student learning regularly and provide progress reports, feedback, and deficiency notices as required. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration regarding academic progress and classroom expectations. Conduct parent-teacher conferences to maintain effective school-home communication. Maintain a teacher page on the school website with relevant classroom information and resources. Submit lesson plans, objectives, tests, quarterly plans, and assignments as requested by administration. Inform administration in a timely manner if unable to fulfill assigned duties and prepare materials for substitute teachers. Collaborate with colleagues to develop programs, enhance curriculum, and support school-wide initiatives. Cooperate with the board and administration in implementing school policies, procedures, and directives. Represent the school professionally to students, parents, colleagues, and the broader community. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, workshops, and in-service training. Manage and maintain school-owned resources, including textbooks and equipment, and cultivate student respect for materials. Perform additional duties as assigned, including carpool, lunch, and recess supervision.
