Description SUMMARY The school seeks a talented and experienced early childhood educator to teach kindergarten. This is a full-time, 10-month, exempt position. Some evening and weekend work is required. RESPONSIBILITIES Leading the instruction and social-emotional learning of a class of 16 students; Teaching Science of Reading aligned literacy that includes phonics (CR Success), writing workshop, social studies, science and math (Number Corner and Bridges Math); Implementing Morning Meetings; Planning and executing two project-based learning projects per year concluding in public showcases; Participating in daily carpool duty and recess duty; Observing at scheduled admission playdates; Writing progress reports for all students; leading scheduled parent-teacher conferences three times per year; Collaborating within a team of eight homeroom teachers for curriculum planning and consistent learning experiences for students; Attending divisional and departmental meetings, participate in professional development activities, observe/be observed by colleagues/administration, and give/receive feedback; Adhering to the divisional curriculum scope and sequence as well as work to align with the team’s instructional plans; Mentoring and supporting an associate teacher in their classroom. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will… Have at least three years of teaching experience with 4-6 year-old children. Demonstrate competency with student-centered technology, an interest in advancing and supporting its use to enhance student learning, and the desire to employ technology to connect with students who learn both remotely and in-person. Demonstrate a growth mindset and seek opportunities to reflect upon their practice to improve. Embrace modern pedagogical techniques. Have an MS in Early Childhood or Childhood Education. Specific Skills and Abilities: Have a desire to be part of a community that values difference and actively engages with it. Show a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (e.g., familiarity with concepts; evidence of relevant personal growth; examples of relevant practice, etc.). Be a motivated collaborator, possess a strong work ethic, and have a positive spirit.
