POSITION INFORMATION

Thomas Reddall High School, located in Ambarvale on Dharawal country, is a comprehensive and growing high school with a current enrolment of approximately 500 students. The school proudly supports a diverse student population, with approximately 20% of students identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and 24% coming from non-English speaking backgrounds. Thomas Reddall High School features a seven-class support unit that caters to students with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, and mental health needs. We foster a vibrant and inclusive school culture that prioritises holistic learning, wellbeing, attendance, and positive behaviour. Our school is committed to providing outstanding academic opportunities tailored to the individual needs of our diverse learners, demonstrated through consistent growth and value-added results in both the Higher School Certificate (HSC) and NAPLAN assessments. Explicit teaching and HPGE programs (High Potential and Gifted Education) underpin our teaching philosophy and strong transition programs ‘In, through and beyond’ support our students to determine personalised pathways to success.
The Teacher Librarian is responsible for managing and maintaining a vibrant, inclusive, and well-resourced library that functions as a flexible, technology-rich learning environment supporting students across all stages. Working collaboratively with classroom teachers, the Teacher Librarian develops and delivers curriculum-aligned programs that enhance literacy, numeracy, and research skills, with particular attention to the academic needs of Stage 6 students. The role promotes student engagement and wellbeing through inclusive practices and proactive behaviour management strategies that support learners from diverse backgrounds, including students with disabilities. The Teacher Librarian curates a broad range of print and digital resources aligned with curriculum goals and student interests, ensuring equitable access for all. Through explicit teaching of information literacy, digital citizenship, and critical thinking, the Teacher Librarian empowers students to become independent and ethical users of information. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building collaborative relationships with staff, students, parents/carers, and the broader community. The role also involves leading innovative initiatives that elevate the library’s role as a central learning hub, incorporating emerging technologies and supporting inquiry-based, student-driven learning.
