Description

POSITION INFORMATION

Kootingal Public School is a small to medium-sized school located at the foothills of the Moonbi Ranges with a current enrolment of 175 students. Of these, 30% identify as Aboriginal, and the school acknowledges that it is situated on the traditional lands of the Gamilaraay people. The student body comes from a diverse range of socio-economic backgrounds.
We currently have 2 Kindergarten classes, 6 stage based classes and 1 multi-categorical class. Our staff includes experienced teachers and beginning educators. Our students are provided with extra-curricular opportunities in sports, as well as in the creative and performing arts. The students enthusiastically engage in a Gamilaraay language program, which is delivered weekly across the school. We are well resourced with technology with classes having access to both iPads and laptops.
At Kootingal Public School we are dedicated to providing quality teaching and learning, where we aim to improve student literacy and numeracy results through explicit teaching strategies. We employ data-driven practices aligned with evidence-based pedagogical approaches and foster strong collaborative practices. The school’s wellbeing initiatives, including Positive Behaviour for Learning and The Resilience Project, are also data-driven and aimed at addressing the social and emotional wellbeing of our students.
