SMALL SCHOOL, BIG IMPACT – A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO TRANSFORM LIVES
We are looking for a skilled and committed English teacher for our English provision (as a department of one), delivering both AQA GCSE English Language and English Literature to small, well-supported classes of pupils. We are anticipating a January 2026 start, though an earlier start date could be considered.
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced teacher to join a successful Alternative Provision Academy setting (judged recently summer 25 by Ofsted as good and outstanding) where you can focus on the craft of teaching, supported every step of the way. Our classes are small, our pupils are known and valued as individuals, and you’ll be working within a structured, evidence-informed curriculum designed by our Trust, but with agency to adapt and an expectation that you personalise learning from an absolute forensic understanding of where pupils are in terms of their literacy.
A key focus of the role is supporting reading and oracy across the school. You will be trained to become an expert teacher of reading, working closely with our experienced primary colleagues and supported through the Trust-wide Read Write Inc. programme. This training will equip you to build reading fluency and comprehension for pupils who may have struggled throughout their education.
You will join a close-knit and supportive school community, while also benefiting from the strength of our Trust-wide English network and Trust Advisory Lead—11 specialist teachers working together to raise outcomes and transform life chances.
This is a chance to make a profound difference to young people who may have lost confidence in learning. You will need to be consistent, compassionate and determined—but you will be supported, developed, and part of a team that believes in doing things differently for the right reasons.
If you want to teach well, grow professionally, be part of one of the most successful Alternative Provision Multi Academy Trusts within the country and help young people rediscover success, this is your opportunity. For an informal discussion around the role, please contact lholloway@waveedu.org Director of Education and Principal, rclarke@waveedu.org
Wave is dedicated to the safeguarding of children and Safer Recruitment Procedures will be followed. The position requires a satisfactory enhanced DBS check and online check.
We may close this vacancy early as we review applications as they are received, to ensure you are considered for this role please do not wait for the deadline to submit your application.
