Description

We are looking for a well-organised, dynamic and committed teacher to join our thriving Music Department, which plays a central role in the creative and cultural life of the School. The specialist teacher will also take on the role of KS3 Curriculum Co-ordinator. The successful candidate will be dedicated to nurturing a love of music in pupils from Years 7 to 9 and will contribute to the ongoing development of our Key Stage 3 curriculum.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate teacher to develop professionally within a supportive and forward-thinking environment. Music holds a high status at Harrodian, with frequent performances and concerts that showcase our commitment to the arts and to fostering students’ expressive and creative development.
Applications are warmly welcomed from both talented and highly experienced music teachers as well as from ECTs. A teaching qualification is essential to this role. Applicants must demonstrate their considerable experience and passion for delivering music to groups of children, alongside proven behaviour management skills and the ability to think on their feet! They will lead by example, consistently modeling excellent practice and promoting excellence in teaching and learning. Experience in the use of ICT within the music curriculum and a willingness to keep up to date with development in this area would be highly advantageous.
Teaching staff at Harrodian should expect to lead a form, run lunch-time/after-school clubs and contribute to shaping the extra-curricular life of the school. We are continually developing our range of teaching resources within the department and we endeavour to provide a range of exciting opportunities for pupils to develop their appreciation of Music. The department seeks to promote Music outside the classroom and the post-holder will be encouraged to organise trips, visits and musical productions. Involvement with these latter responsibilities will particularly suit a teacher with strong organisational and communication skills.
