Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with administration and faculty for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services for ELL students in accordance with programmatic and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversight of the student’s law-required English language development (ELD) instruction.
  • Coordinate and review ELL needs of incoming students at scholar’s school(s)l.
  • Oversight of the development and implementation of the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) for all students on case load.
  • Work with the students and faculty to provide the appropriate climate for each student to receive his/her accommodations.
  • Coordinate notifications of English learner status via the Annual Parent Notification Letter; and additional parent communication on EL program-related information such as WIDA ACCESS results, notification of exiting EL services, etc.
  • Promote EL family engagement and participation in their child’s academics
  • Ensure compliance with all IDOE and school regulations regarding students’ cumulative folder. Maintain EL student folders’ for those students on your caseload.
  • Attendance at scheduled faculty meetings, professional development meetings and other sessions as determined by the Executive Leadership team. Attendance at evening events that include but may not be limited to Parent Orientation, Meet the Teacher Night, Parent/Teacher Conferences and Open Houses. The dates of these events are listed on the Master Calendar.
  • Mandatory attendance at the annual Symposium (a day long professional development determined by the administration). The date of this event is listed on the Master Calendar
  • An expectation of professional conduct and professional growth throughout the year. Collaboratively work with the administration and other teachers to create policy, guidelines, and working procedures for Herron Classical Schools.
  • Perform other duties as determined necessary by the administration.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers on issues that may arise in classroom settings.
  • Coordinate and participate in case conferences and annual reviews and facilitate the compilation of documentation for student records of students that have both IILPs and IEPs.
  • Assist administration with providing necessary training to special education staff, EL staff, general education teachers, support staff, and parents, etc.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians of Herron Classical Schools’ EL education students.
