Job Description and Responsibilities This is a full-time, on-site role as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) serving a school located in Bellville, IL. The Teacher of the Blind or Visually impaired (TVI) will be responsible for providing teaching and case management services to students, conducting assessments, developing IEP plans, evaluating progress, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (therapists, educators, parents). The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for working with students with special needs. Job Details Full Time 37.5 hours/week 2026-2027 School year, August - May/June. On-site, in-person Pre K-8 grades Competitive pay Job duties: educational services for students with visual impairments, evaluations, collaboration with teams, families and students. Guaranteed hours, including documentation, administrative and planning time $50-68+/hour ($1875-$2650+/week) Responsibilities Develop, implement, and assess individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities. Deliver instruction tailored to meet the diverse learning styles and needs of students. Collaborate with parents, educators, and specialists to ensure a comprehensive approach to student learning and support. Monitor student progress and adapt instructional strategies to improve outcomes. Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and progress to inform ongoing instruction and planning. Create a welcoming, safe, and productive classroom environment that encourages positive behavior and learning. Provide guidance and support to classroom staff in implementing educational strategies for students with special needs. Bachelors or Masters Degree or higher in Special Education Education Specialist Instruction Credential – Visual Impairments Must meet California’s Basic Skills Requirement, typically by passing the CBEST exam or an approved alternative. 1+ years of experience in a school setting preferred Experience working with visually Impaired children Organizational and time management skills Proficient in use of technology Fingerprint background clearance Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with a demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications Physical Requirements Working and playing with students requires that employees must be able to perform the necessary physical movement functions, as needed, such as lifting, sitting, walking, standing, crawling, and engaging with students in all physical locations and activities, while adhering to the duties outlined by the district.
