NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Special Education, with specialization in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
  • Certification or eligibility from the Association of Canadian Educators of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
  • Valid BC teaching certificate
  • Ability to travel between sites
  • We require two references (from direct supervisors) and one must be from your current/most recent position.

Candidates should have:

  • Flexibility and ability to work as part of a team
  • High level of interpersonal and organizational skills, and ability to prioritize
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with school teams, families, and community agencies
  • Knowledge of student eligibility for Ministry of Education Hearing and Deafblind categories
  • Ability to provide universal tier one supports for students with audio challenges in classrooms
  • Ability to provide program/resource development for students with hearing-based needs
  • Ability to consult with district and school-based staff, parents, and community agencies to support students with hearing-based needs
  • Knowledge of current assistive technologies to support students with audio needs
  • Ability to provide information and consultation to school personnel regarding educational programming and to contribute to IEP development
  • A willingness to provide a variety of in-service opportunities to school and district staff
  • A willingness to attend district-based professional development opportunities in an effort to stay current and implement best practices
