MINIMUM 1+ YEARS VISUALLY IMPAIRED EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.

A K-12 educational institution in Cumming, GA is seeking experienced Teachers for the Visually Impaired to join their team on a contract basis for the current school year.
This role requires specialists dedicated to supporting students with visual impairments, helping them achieve academic success and independence. Candidates will provide tailored instructional strategies, assessments, and accommodations aligned with individual education plans (IEPs) to meet diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement specialized curricula for visually impaired students across K-12 grade levels
  • Conduct assessments to determine students functional vision and educational needs
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to design effective learning plans
  • Provide orientation and mobility training and adapt instructional materials as needed
  • Utilize assistive technology and devices to enhance student learning
  • Monitor progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with all regulatory and district requirements

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
  • Proven experience working with visually impaired students in K-12 settings
  • Strong knowledge of visual impairments, teaching methodologies, and assistive technologies
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to design individualized instruction that promotes independence and academic growth
