Description George School, an all-gender Quaker boarding/day high school located in Newtown, PA, seeks a full-time Teacher of World Religions and Spiritual Nurture beginning August 2026 for the 2026-2027 academic year. Responsibilities Responsible for all aspects of lesson planning, instruction, and assessment (George School has a modified block schedule of 7 terms. Faculty teach 2 classes per term for 6 terms, and 3 classes for 1 term.). Foster a dynamic, interactive, and engaging learning environment. Partner collaboratively with other members of department. Serve on a school committee (waived in the first year). Advise approximately ten students (waived in the first year). Perform other community contributions, which may include coaching a sport, supervising a club, social or dorm activities, or evening study hall. Requirements Bachelor's degree in religious studies, psychology, or related field; advanced degree preferred. Substantial knowledge and experience of world religions, as well as Quaker faith and practice. Personal commitment to spiritual practice. Experience teaching secondary school students. Experience using or integrating technology tools to enhance teaching and learning. An openness to exploring innovative teaching strategies and emerging technologies. Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs. A willingness to take pedagogical risks to enhance student learning experiences. Dedication to supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment. Interest in being a part of the community life of a boarding school. Commitment to working towards antiracism and developing and practicing cultural competency. Commitment to the traditions and philosophy of a Quaker educational community. Ability to work with a diverse student population and a style consistent with Quaker values.
