QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor of Physical Activity or Physical Education or equivalent;
  • Teaching experience at the Primary or Junior level with a wide range of abilities and learning styles;
  • Experience and/or training in the use of current, research-based practices for assessment strategies and Health programming;
  • Experience differentiating and adapting teaching, learning and assessment in classrooms and Gymnasium with a wide range of developmental levels;
  • Additional training in Early Learning Programming or a specialization in primary/junior education;
  • Experience working in a shared learning environment with other educators would be an asset;
  • Experience and/or knowledge in Special Education, self-regulation, restorative practices, and trauma-informed care would be an asset;

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:

Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:

  • A knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of the First Nations people of Yukon and a culturally diverse student population;
  • Experience integrating outdoor education and experiential learning across the curriculum and to support the development of core competencies;
  • Strong ability to engage students in learning;
  • Solid planning and organizational skills to create a framework for learning and development;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work positively and collaboratively with students, staff and the school community;
  • Ability to work and contribute as a member of a professional team and willingness to participate in the total school program;
  • Experience using and integrating technology as part of teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Willingness to live, work and participate as an active member of a small, northern community
