JOB TITLE:   Assistant Teacher  SUMMARY:  Elmcor Rising Scholars is seeking Assistant Teachers for a 3K/4K early child program funded by DOE and operated by Elmcor Youth & Adult Activities.  Elmcor Rising Scholars is a school year/ school day program located in Jamaica, Queens.  Lead teachers will be the direct education provider to the children of district 29 and must reflect the values and mission of Elmcor in their pedagogy. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:   Position reports to Education Director  SCHEDULE:  M-F 7:30AM - 3:00PM or 8-3:30PM LOCATION: Saint Albans, NY    POSITION TYPE:  Fulltime  ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: * Support the classroom teacher in implementing instructional activities, Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and specialized strategies to meet the educational, developmental, and behavioral needs of children with special needs. * Assist with student assessments, classroom documentation, physical care tasks, health-related activities, and communication with families and educational professionals as directed. * Utilize appropriate teaching techniques, behavioral interventions, and adaptive materials to promote student engagement, learning, independence, and achievement of educational goals. * Provide social-emotional support, guidance, and supervision while fostering a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student success. * Ensure the safety and well-being of students by maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free classroom and adhering to all policies, procedures, and regulations. * Collaborate effectively with teachers, support staff, and multidisciplinary team members to support student development and overall classroom objectives.
