We are accepting applications for the term position of Special Education Teacher at T’lisalagi’lakw School. We are a First Nations operated Group Two Independent school with Grades K-7 full days. JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Education, Special Education certification preferred
  • Member in good standing with the BC College of Teachers
  • 2 years’ special education teaching in a First Nations environment preferred
  • Satisfactory criminal records and vulnerable sector search

Responsibilities
  • Provide inquiry based, problem solving based and project based learning opportunities
  • Implement specialized instructional intervention methods and approaches
  • Develop, implement and oversee Individual Education Plans
  • Develop and implement accommodative and augmentative supports
  • Prepare and deliver long term, monthly and daily lesson plan activities
  • Ensure that students’ overall needs for achieving success are met
  • Collaborate with Teachers, Education Assistants and Cultural Workers regularly and as required to enhance learning outcomes
  • Develop relationships with parents to collaborate for enhancing learning outcomes
  • Enforce the school discipline policy
  • Participate as a member of the school supervisory and extra-curricular teams as required
  • Provide written student evaluation reports and attend parent-teacher conferences
  • Ensure that accurate and complete student records are maintained
