We are a unique animal education centre, based within a primary school. We run weekly classes for children aged 2 - 18, teaching them various aspects of animal care and husbandry. Species include corsac foxes, parrots, meerkats, capybara, skunks, sugar gliders and much more.

The role:
An Animal Ranger Position -starting from 25 hours per week. Days of work are Monday - Friday
This role would a suit range of people, in particular, those that have Teaching or Teaching Assistant experience.
We are a unique animal education centre, based within a primary school. We run weekly classes for children aged 1 - 18, teaching them various aspects of animal care and husbandry. We work with a variety of children including those at risk of exclusion. This role will involve 1:1 teaching/assisting students either in the classroom or in the centre.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join our team. The right candidate must be comfortable working with children and animals. We are looking for an outgoing, driven candidate to join our small team and be an ambassador for our company.

Experience:

  • professional animal husbandry: 1 year (preferred)
  • professional teaching: 1 year (preferred)
  • working with SEND children: 1 year (preferred)
  • working with students with behavioural difficulties: 1 year (preferred
Responsibilities

General husbandry of all animals on site.
1:1 teaching assisting students either in the classroom or the centre.
Experience working with children with SEND.
Running animal education classes for 2-18 year olds

Successful candidate(s) will have:

  • A wide range of experience with animals or teaching.
  • Experience working in a classroom environment.
  • Great people skills and will be expected to engage with the public during weekly classes / educational tours/ school visits etc.

The successful candidate should be enthusiastic, motivated, able to work independently, with a positive outlook and excellent communication skills at all levels. Must also be comfortable completing manual work. Please note, shifts are fixed during school term time. Shifts during the school holidays are more flexible.

Desirable attributes of a successful candidate:

  • Strong observation skills.
  • Experience of public speaking.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • A relevant animal-related qualification.
  • Experience working with children including those with special educational needs and disabilities.

Full in-house training will be given to the successful candidate. CPD training will be offered after a probational period.
