Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

To support the teaching and learning of pupils by working closely with teaching staff to deliver a high standard of education, care, and inclusion. The Teaching Assistant will help create a positive, supportive learning environment and assist in the implementation of individual and group educational plans.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering planned learning activities, ensuring all pupils are engaged and supported.
  • Work with individual pupils or small groups, including those with special educational needs, under the direction of the class teacher or SENCO.
  • Support pupils in developing independent learning skills, confidence, and self-esteem.
  • Help maintain a well-organised and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources.
  • Provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress, behaviour, and engagement.
  • Promote positive pupil behaviour and support the school’s behaviour policy.
  • Supervise pupils during break times, on educational visits, or in other non-classroom settings as required.
  • Contribute to the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils, following the school’s child protection procedures.
  • Participate in training and professional development as required.
