Fromefield Manor School will be a new SEN school located in central Frome, Somerset and will be a special school for up to 30 pupils, aged 11-19 who have a diagnosis of autism with associated complex needs.
Fromefield Manor will be operating through a Total communication approach and so experience of working with pupils with ASD and some knowledge of the use of TEACCH and PECS systems would be desirable. As Teaching Assistant at Fromefield Manor, your role will be to support teachers in implementing bespoke person-centred curriculums in order to meet a wide range of learner needs.
This is a unique opportunity to play an important part in the startup of an exciting new educational development within the Southwest Cluster of Aspris Schools. We are looking for versatile, resilient and committed Teaching Assistants, who can adapt their practice wherever necessary to support individual learning journeys across all key stages. We would like the successful applicant to start in September 2024 alongside the school officially opening. We offer a free mini bus service from Frome to the school for all staff.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE BE AN EXPERIENCED TEACHING ASSISTANT AND WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERISTICS:

Resilience We support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged.
Communication Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.
Organisation Strong organisational skills are important to support the class teacher and young people with educational activities
Caring Our young people require the best care we can offer. If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.
Attentive No two tasks will be the same so being attentive to understand them and identify areas where we can support is important.
