Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Salary: £85-£95 per day

Teaching Assistant
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming and vibrant team at a thriving primary school in the heart of Blandford Forum. This is a fantastic opportunity to play an important role in supporting the learning and development of pupils with SEN, while also contributing to the wider classroom environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work under the guidance of the class teacher to deliver high-quality learning support.
  • Provide tailored 1:1 assistance to a pupils with SEN, ensuring their individual needs are met and inclusion is promoted.
  • Foster a safe, caring, and stimulating learning environment for all pupils.
  • Support with the preparation of resources, classroom organisation, and learning activities.
  • Assist with behaviour management both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Encourage children’s progress in reading, writing, and mathematics through targeted support.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, contributing to ongoing assessment and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCo to implement and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.

Person specification

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, or working with children with SEN, is essential.
  • A patient, adaptable, and nurturing approach to supporting children.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • A relevant Level 2/3 TA qualification (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, and promoting the welfare of children.
  • An enhanced DBS check is required for the successful candidate.
