DO YOU HAVE A STRONG TEACHING ASSISTANT BACKGROUND IN SECONDARY EDUCATION? THEN THIS COULD BE THE JOB FOR YOU.
You will work for the Sensory Needs Service and be part of the team who support deaf pupils in the school. You will work under the direction of the Head of Deaf Support Facility (Teacher of the Deaf), assist in the support and inclusion of deaf pupils in the mainstream school.

The secondary position is based at Priory School in Lewes although you could be asked to work at one of our other bases – Willingdon Primary/Secondary or Manor Primary, Uckfield.
Hours of Work will be Monday - Friday 8.30am - 3.30pm, Term Time only
Whilst experience of working with deaf children and/or specialist needs would be welcomed, this is not essential as on-going training and support will be given. The current cohort are predominately oral communicators. We can provide additional training in sign language, if required. We are looking for good teaching assistants who want to develop a specialism in this area.
We are looking for candidates who have:
Recent experience of working within a school setting appropriate to the site (Secondary)
Signing BSL to Stage 1 or a willingness to learn to sign.
Good IT skills.
Good verbal communication skills.
Good organisational skills.
The ability to work within a team.
The ability to cope with change.
The ability to present information clearly.
