POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants to join our educational team. The ideal candidates will be passionate about creating a positive learning environment and supporting students with diverse needs, including those with disabilities and autism. This role requires creativity, patience, and strong communication skills to effectively engage with students and their families.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Experience working with children in educational settings, particularly in secondary schools.
  • A background in special education or experience supporting students with disabilities is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with strategies for assisting students on the autism spectrum is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Experience in mentoring or tutoring roles will be beneficial.

Responsibilities

As a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant with Standby Education, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the delivery of lesson plans tailored to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Supporting classroom teachers to ensure that all students can engage with the curriculum effectively.
  • Creating a nurturing and collaborative classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation.
  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers on individual performance.
  • Collaborating with special education staff to support students with disabilities and additional needs.
  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to enhance students’ learning experiences.
  • Building strong relationships with parents and guardians to promote student success.
  • Engaging students in creative activities and interventions to boost their confidence and skills.
  • Participating in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices.
