Reporting to: Headteacher, Senior Leader, Class Teacher, Senior Teaching Assistant
Responsible for: None as TA. Afterschool Club Assistants as Afterschool Club Lead.

GENERAL

  • Contribute to the overall ethos/aims of the academy
  • Participate in training, other learning activities and performance development as required.
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required.
  • The post holder is required to be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, equal opportunities, health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person.
  • The post holder has a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults during the course of their work. This post requires the post holder to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF AFTERSCHOOL CLUB LEADER

  • Ensure an effective Afterschool Club team by allocating duties to Afterschool Club Assistants
  • Ensure staffing levels are maintained in line with academy policy, arranging cover as required
  • Oversee the supervision of activities and maintain health, safety, welfare, good conduct and safeguarding of pupils during the Afterschool Club period, having regard to additional needs
  • Oversee and assist in the preparation and tidying up of supervised areas to create a welcoming and relaxed environment
  • To carry out administration including ordering food/supplies
  • To treat pupils in a fair, patient and firm manner following academy policy
  • Meet and greet parents/carers, noting any information and passing this on to senior leaders as required
  • To promote and positively endorse good behaviour, social skills and hygiene
  • Deal with, and report, incidents of disruptive behaviour in line with the academy’s policy
  • To act accordingly when advice or assistance is needed to meet pupil needs.
  • Liaise with colleagues and senior staff on how to meet any individual pupil needs
  • Responsible for the induction, supervisions and co-ordination of other Afterschool Club Assistants
  • Administer basic first aid, recording and reporting details in line with school procedures as required
