Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship at Freemantles School Freemantles is a vibrant, forward-thinking special school, proudly rated Outstanding in all areas by OFSTED in November 2023. We specialise in supporting children and young people aged 4–19 with complex social communication needs, including Autism. We are looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant Apprentice. Apprenticeship Overview: Salary: £7.55 an hour, Automatic pay increase after one year on programme for 19+ year olds Working Week: Monday to Friday - 9.15am - 3.15 pm (30 minutes lunch break) Hours: 30 hours per week Duration: 18 months Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification Online training supported by our dedicated tutor Location: Smarts Heath Road, Mayford Green, Woking, GU22 0AN What you’ll do at work Help students with learning activities inside and outside the classroom. Support play during breaks and assist with trips, encouraging safety and independence. Help students take part in all subjects, including arts, sports, and swimming. Join and support students on residential and community outings. Work closely with the class team to create a positive learning environment. Support students with personal needs like toileting and feeding. Assist in setting up and organising classroom resources. Follow school policies and take part in training and development. Carry out therapy activities under guidance from professionals. Help manage challenging behaviour using safe strategies (after training). Support transitions between activities and use hands-on guidance to aid learning and communication.
