Myles Academy is an independent special school for 13-19 year olds looking for a full time Teaching Assistant to support the planned high-quality teaching, learning and assessment for SEN learners from Entry Level 1 to Level 2. TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED TO DEMONSTRATE THAT YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

• Experience of supporting SEN pupils in primary or secondary.
• A proven record of good or outstanding practice
• Minimum GCSE grade C in math and English
• Experience of helping to plan and deliver a creative and academically engaging curriculum, meeting the needs of individual pupils
• A willingness to drive the school car to sporting activities so a driving licence is essential.
• Experience or willingness to deliver vocational subjects such as Asdan Short Courses independently. This may involve doing arts and crafts activities.
• Good and consistent classroom and behaviour management skills
• Emotional resilience and excellent communication skills
• The desire to be engaged in all aspects of school life from the academic to the pastoral
• A passion to make a real difference to the education and lives of young people
• A full, clean driving licence and own car with business insurance or be willing to drive the school car to activities.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:

• To support the teaching and assessment of functional skills in the morning and ASDAN Sports and Fitness in the afternoon principally, to support pupils’ journey into work or other positive progression
• To help plan and deliver innovative teaching sessions to inspire and motivate
• To help develop teaching and learning resources
• To help deliver diagnostic assessments and prepare Individual Learning Plans from the results of diagnostics
• To help review learners’ progress and give constructive feedback to learners
• To help develop and support the preparation of Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans with appropriate effective teaching and learning strategies, resources and assessments
• To help maintain attendance registers, records of progress
• To undertake professional development and training to contribute to individual and school development
• To lead off site activities for pupils.
• To carry out all duties with due regard to Health and Safety and e-safety requirements
• To embed British Values, Prevent, Safeguarding and E-safety
• Prepare and deliver the lessons based on set curriculum for ASDAN Short courses to students in a classroom or remote setting, teaching class sizes of up to 6 students
• To carry out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.
