Post: Teaching Assistant
Working pattern: 28.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.15am 2.45 pm (4.00pm Tuesdays), term time only.
Contract type: Permanent
Start Date: ASAP
We are looking for Teaching Assistants to join our team and have the flexibility to work across the pathways of Lisburne School. We are also part of the Four Rivers Multi Academy Trust and there will be opportunities for growth across all of the schools in the future.
Lisburne School is an outstanding special school for pupils with severe and complex needs. This post is to join the Teaching Assistant staff within the school supporting pupils with additional learning needs. Above all, you must be child-centred in your approach and have the enthusiasm, motivation and ability to work with children who may not relate well to conventional teaching methods and to find connections to engage the harder to reach children. There is a strong emphasis on the nurture and care of our children combined with a significant focus on their emotional and mental health and wellbeing alongside the delivery of our specialist curriculum. Staff work tirelessly as a team to create a safe, inclusive and fun environment where children can receive the support they need to help them overcome personal barriers and obstacles and to make progress with their learning.
The post requires applicants to be able to demonstrate initiative, a desire to become involved in professional development to ensure high quality of provision, a willingness to be flexible and adapt calmly to ever changing situations. Knowledge of de-escalation strategies and Team Teach, whilst not essential, would be desirable. Applications from people with experience, Level 3 TA qualification or knowledge of different educational needs would also be desirable but not essential.
This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant’s appointment will be subject to satisfactory references, online checks, such as social media and clearances by the DBS.
