PMLD Teaching Assistant - Croydon
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and have experience in personal care and want to make a real difference in a school setting?
We are seeking 4 dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join our vibrant and inclusive team supporting students across primary and secondary age ranges in a specialist SEN school environment.
This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals with a strong background in personal care-including toileting, feeding, and mobility support-who are committed to empowering students with a wide range of needs, including Autism, physical disabilities, and complex learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities as a Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide vital support with personal care tasks, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene.
  • Assist in learning activities under the guidance of teaching and senior staff.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • Offer lunchtime support and contribute to specialised programs like hydrotherapy.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment, nurturing every student’s potential.

The Ideal Candidate Must Have:

  • Experience in personal care (e.g. Teaching Assistant, healthcare, care work, or support work background).
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive, proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Previous experience with SEN, whether personal or professional.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with a diverse range of individuals.
