We are currently seeking a caring and enthusiastic individual to join the team at a lovely primary school located in Selby. This rewarding role involves working collaboratively with teaching staff, supporting pupils with diverse needs, and fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Helping to create a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment for the children.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A genuine passion for working with children.
  • Friendly, reliable, and approachable with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic understanding of safeguarding and child protection (training can be provided).
  • Previous experience in a childcare or school setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting Learning Activities
  • Assist the teacher in delivering lessons.
  • Work with small groups or individual students to reinforce learning.
  • Help prepare learning materials and resources.
  • Classroom Management
  • Support the teacher in maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Help manage student behaviour and encourage engagement.
  • Supervise students during lessons, breaks, and outings.
  • Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support
  • Provide tailored support to students with learning difficulties or disabilities.
  • Implement strategies from Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Liaise with SENCOs and other professionals.
  • Administrative Support
  • Help with record-keeping, such as attendance and progress tracking.
  • Prepare displays and tidy up classrooms.
  • Photocopying, filing, and other clerical tasks.
  • Pastoral Care
  • Offer emotional support and encouragement to students.
  • Monitor student well-being and report concerns.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Supervision Duties
  • Oversee students during lunch, playtime, or on school trips.
