__________ FACULTY OF MEDICINE | TE KAUPEKA WHAIORA UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO WELLINGTON | ŌTĀKOU WHAKAIHU WAKA, PŌNEKE About our team/Mō te tīma We are seeking a Teaching Fellow to join the Faculty of Medicine at University of Otago, Wellington and also under a separate contract support the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) at Te Whatu Ora Capital and Coast and Hutt Valley. The role/Te mahi This is an exciting opportunity for a resident medical officer (PGY2 or above) to gain broad exposure to academic medicine through a unique shared appointment between Te Whatu Ora – Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley and the Faculty of Medicine, University of Otago, Wellington. The role combines clinical trial support and medical student teaching. Key responsibilities include: • Support ongoing clinical trials, including protocol familiarisation, data collection, patient engagement, and trial coordination tasks. • Contribute to ethics applications, data management, and publication drafts. • Assist in delivery of clinical teaching in MBChB modules and contribute to assessments and OSCEs. • Participate in CTU meetings and assist with audit and quality assurance activities. • Build collaborative relationships with clinician-researchers and partner institutions. Your Skills and Experience | Kā pūkeka me kā wheako • Registered medical practitioner in New Zealand (PGY2 or above). • Demonstrated interest in clinical research and medical education. • Strong organisational and communication skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to its principles. • Desirable: prior experience in clinical trials or teaching. Further details/Pūroko This is a combined fixed-term, full-time (1.0 FTE) position for 12 months, located in Wellington. A 0.8 FTE position is negotiable for the right candidate. The position will be based in Wellington Regional Hospital, Hutt Hospital, and University of Otago, Wellington campus. You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this position. The salary range for the academic position is $98,583 to $120,528 per annum (pro rata) - the level of appointment will be based on skills and experience.
