Responsibilities

The Air Platforms and Weapons Group is seeking a skilled individual to contribute to our work in: aerodynamics; flight dynamics; guidance navigation and control; and aviation safety. Join our team to work on cutting-edge defence technologies, with opportunities for teaching, research, and consultancy.
About the Role
You will deliver postgraduate teaching in lecture and laboratory environments, assess student work through coursework, exams, and support research and consultancy activities. Responsibilities also include supervising MSc projects and assisting PhD students with their research. There are opportunities to publish research findings in academic journals and develop your teaching materials. This role offers potential for career progression, with the possibility of promotion to a lectureship based on performance and qualifications.
About You
You will have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physical science, or mathematics, and hold (or be nearing completion of) a PhD in flight dynamics and control. With a growing track record in your field, you will bring subject matter expertise in modern control theory and advanced Matlab programming skills. Your experience in oral presentations of technical concepts demonstrates your ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
In addition to your technical expertise, you will possess strong people skills, enabling you to work collaboratively with staff, students, and research partners. You will have excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing abilities, alongside proficiency in a wide range of relevant software. You will be required to hold an appropriate level of security clearance.
