Responsibilities

Portsmouth Military Education Team (PMET) is seeking to appoint a permanent Teaching Fellow in either Defence Studies, International Security or Air and Space power and to work within the bespoke team that provides academic support to the Royal Air Force (RAF).
PMET is looking to appoint someone that would complement the team’s existing expertise, located at RAF Halton, near Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire.
The role involves teaching RAF personnel principally, but this appointment is integrated fully with the University of Portsmouth. It may also require occasional teaching at RAF College Cranwell.
The successful candidate is likely to have completed a doctorate or be close to completion, but professional qualifications and senior professional experience will also be considered. You will be committed to excellence in teaching at all levels, with support to develop teaching skills being available for less experienced staff. You will have drive and enthusiasm, an innovative approach to research, learning and teaching, and enjoy working collaboratively in a dynamic environment. Experience of delivering blended/distance learning and practical student-led learning would be advantageous.
You must be willing to undergo MoD security clearance (you should have been resident in the United Kingdom for the last 3 years to obtain CTC level security clearance), and act to retain that clearance during your employment. You also must be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check. Please be aware that the role involves teaching outside of the standard academic term time.
