YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE/KĀ PŪKEKA ME KĀ WHEAKO

Essential

  • A post-graduate qualification related to sport and exercise science, physical activity and health, clinical exercise physiology or equivalent.
  • Experience of effective teaching at a tertiary or secondary institution.
  • A commitment to upholding values, tikanga, kawa and traditions, as guided by Kāi Tahu who are mana whenua in the region.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently and in a team.

Desirable

  • Suitable professional experience working in exercise prescription.
  • Registration or accreditation with a relevant professional body, such as Sport & Exercise Science New Zealand, or Clinical Exercise Physiology New Zealand.
Responsibilities

We invite applications for a Teaching Fellow/Senior Teaching Fellow with expertise in Exercise Prescription. The focus of the role is to coordinate and deliver effective research informed teaching for SPEX 205 Physical Activity & Health and within our postgraduate programme.

The general expectations for the role include the following key tasks:

  • Coordinating and delivering effective research-informed undergraduate teaching and learning in SPEX 205 Physical Activity and Health. Including marking assessments and exams, providing constructive and timely feedback to students on their progress towards learning outcomes.
  • Contributing to teaching and assessment within our team-taught postgraduate papers in clinical exercise physiology.
  • Providing supervision to students undertaking an exercise prescription practicum at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Promoting the School’s efforts to understand and realise the letter and the spirit of the University’s Māori Strategic Framework, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
