Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

It’s an exciting time to join to the Department of Chemistry here at Imperial College and we are inviting applications for the role of Teaching Technician supporting the undergraduate teaching laboratories. You will join a team of skilled technicians supporting the day-to-day teaching laboratory activities (practicals/projects) and ensuring materials, equipment and lab areas are fully prepared.

WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING

You will be engaging with students, graduate teaching assistants and staff demonstrators to ensure the activities operate efficiently and lab areas remain safe. As a teaching technician you will gain wide-ranging expertise with the laboratory techniques and equipment used including; FTIR, UV-vis, GC, melting point, and physical chemical methods, which you will demonstrate and assist others (i.e. students/staff demonstrators) in using them. In this role there will be scope to engage in the curriculum review process by helping to develop and to innovate the resourcing and delivery of the practical education for our undergraduate courses. As a member of the teaching team you will also be required to help evaluate new equipment and instrumentation and liaise with instrument manufacturers.
