JOB OVERVIEW

Mental Health Natters is a small, passionate not for profit organisation based in Abingdon. We are looking for a friendly, self-motivated Team Administrator who can ensure the smooth running of daily administrative tasks. Our team supports children, young people and their families to improve their mental health and educational outcomes, ensuring every child and young person receives the help that they need to thrive in life.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Proven office experience with a strong background in administrative roles.
  • Proficient computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Understanding of financial processes in small organisations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently in a small team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a warm, professional manner.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Experience in office management, charity operations or similar.
  • Lived experience of children with mental health or school attendance difficulties.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality requirements.
  • Experience of working with children, young people and families.
  • Knowledge of Xero/ similar accounting software.

Please note that this position is currently on a self-employed basis. We are happy to consider variable hours and flexibility to fit around other commitments.
    Job Types: Part-time, Permanent, Zero hours contract
    Pay: £12.53-£15.00 per hour

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

As our Team Administrator, we are looking for someone who is computer literate, able to complete administrative and finance tasks independently, is flexible, organised and able to multi-task, enjoys working in a team and is a skilled communicator. Due to the nature of the families we work with we also need someone who is friendly, approachable, can be sensitive to the difficulties of each family, shows empathy and initiative and is responsive to each person’s needs. Subject to enhanced DBS check and references in line with our Safer Recruitment commitment to safeguarding children.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the team, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars and timely response to emails
  • Maintain accurate records and files, ensuring data entry is completed efficiently
  • Manage office equipment and supplies, placing orders as necessary
  • Support financial processes using Xero for invoicing and spreadsheets for tracking grant income and expenses
  • Attend weekly team meeting and collaborate with team members to ensure services are provided to the highest standard
  • Ensure refreshments are available and a tidy, welcoming environment for families.
