Description
The Team Lead / Consultant - Corrosion & Materials will lead the delivery of materials engineering consultancy services to the internal Wood business units and to Wood’s external client base. This role is primarily based in Wood offices but may also require on-site support, both onshore and offshore. Roles in this team are crucial for ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of engineering projects and will typically support the following specialist areas: Corrosion & Material Selection: Providing expert advice and solutions to avoid and manage corrosion-related problems in new projects or modifications to existing facilities. Cathodic Protection (CP): Develop, review and specifiy cathodic protection systems in new projects or modifications to existing facilities. The key high-level aspects of the role are as follows: A technical specialist, capable applying advanced engineering concepts to unique engineering problems, typically requires more than 10 years progressively more responsible pertinent experience. Uses advanced technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments and produce engineering deliverables including complex problems and to complete any project tasks with minimal guidance and direction. Serves as the Lead Engineer or the project Technical Authority on projects and holds advanced level specialisation in one or more areas of the materials discipline (i.e. corrosion, coatings, welding, CP). Reviews and manages complex projects within area of expertise or of a multidisciplinary nature. Generally directs highly qualified professionals engaged in complex engineering projects. Has authority for a portfolio of consulting projects, managing and providing technical direction and guidance, managing client relationship and project team engagement, with responsibility for cost, schedule, resource allocation and risk. Specialist level of competence in one or more of the following specialist areas: 1. Corrosion & Material Selection Corrosion Management Strategy development and application. Material Selection Assessment / Reporting. Corrosion Monitoring and Risk Assessment. Corrosion Modelling Studies. Coating Design and Specification - Onshore and Offshore. Development of materials section of Specifications for Valves. 2. Cathodic Protection (CP) Cathodic Protection Integrity Assessments - Onshore/Offshore pipelines, equipment and structures. Cathodic Protection (CP) field work, TR/test point checks, potential measurements. Cathodic Protection (CP) onshore system installation, installing & commissioning test points, anode beds, TR units, monitoring stations. Cathodic Protection Design - Offshore Pipeline & Facilities. Cathodic Protection Design - Onshore Pipeline & Facilities. AC mitigation Design - Onshore Pipeline.
Responsibilities
