Upway is a fast growing startup building the largest marketplace for refurbished e-bikes globally. We have refurbished over 20,000 e-bikes in just two years and are growing fast! We are looking for a Bike Mechanic for our Upway Berlin Refurbishment Centre, currently our largest Centre in the world. The mechanic team repairs a large number of different used e-bikes and refurbishes them to excellent condition, providing Upway’s customers with a vast and high-quality e-bike selection.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Extensive hands-on experience in e-bike mechanics (5+ years preferred)
  • Previous team management experience, with a proven track record of mentoring and developing team members.
  • Strong ability to diagnose, repair, and service a wide range of e-bike brands and models.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for sustainable mobility and a customer-first mindset
  • Willingness to work in a team in a fast-paced environment
  • PC basic skills (Email, Office)
  • You have good knowledge of English (German is a plus)
Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Team Lead – E-Bike Mechanics to oversee and guide our mechanics team. This role is crucial in ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently while maintaining the highest quality standards in e-bike refurbishment and repair. As the most experienced mechanic on your team, you will be the go-to expert for technical questions, complex repairs, and process improvements. Additionally, you will be responsible for fostering a positive team culture, ensuring workflow efficiency, and maintaining top-tier quality standards.

TASKS

  • Lead & Mentor: Provide hands-on guidance, training, and support to a team of e-bike mechanics, ensuring continuous skill development and high performance.
  • Technical Expertise: Serve as the highest-skilled mechanic in the team, troubleshooting complex repairs and setting the benchmark for technical excellence.
  • Workflow & Efficiency: Oversee day-to-day workshop operations, optimizing processes to ensure efficiency, productivity, and adherence to service timelines.
  • Quality Control: Ensure every refurbished e-bike meets Upway’s rigorous quality standards before it reaches customers.
  • Problem Solving & Innovation: Identify operational bottlenecks and implement process improvements to enhance performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g. Operations Specialists and Customer service) to streamline operations and enhance service delivery.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all safety protocols and workshop best practices are adhered to, promoting a safe and organized work environment.
