About the job

Referment is working with a technology business that provides managed database infrastructure and engineering support for production systems. It is looking for a Team Lead to guide its IT Services and DevOps engineers while remaining close to the technical work behind a highly available platform.

You will set the technical direction for infrastructure, mentor engineers and work with software-development teams to make deployment and operational practices more reliable. The remit spans cloud infrastructure, container orchestration, automation, observability and incident response.

The Role

• Lead and mentor DevOps engineers, providing technical direction and supporting development.
• Design and implement repeatable, automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Manage and optimise cloud infrastructure supporting production services.
• Translate development teams' infrastructure requirements into practical solutions.
• Establish effective monitoring, alerting and incident-response procedures.
• Advance infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform.
• Help production systems meet demanding availability commitments.

What We're Looking For

• At least five years' experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering.
• At least two years' people or formal technical leadership experience.
• Strong Linux systems-administration knowledge.
• Hands-on Kubernetes, Docker and container orchestration experience.
• Practical Python and Bash scripting.
• Experience with Prometheus and Grafana, or comparable monitoring tooling.
• Clear professional communication in German and English.

Relevant Desirable Experience

PostgreSQL administration, physical or dedicated server management, and relevant AWS or Kubernetes certifications would be useful, but are secondary to production DevOps fundamentals and credible team leadership.

This could suit a DevOps Team Lead, SRE Lead or hands-on Infrastructure Lead who wants responsibility for both engineering standards and a technical team's development.
