Description Position Summary: The Hospitality Assistant Lead is a versatile culinary professional who supports the Lead Cook and can seamlessly step into any Hospitality position when needed due to absence, high volume, or to cover shifts. This role combines supervisory responsibilities with hands-on technical expertise across various stations (e.g. prep, cook, server, dishwasher, barista, cashier, etc.) Responsibilities: Primary: Food Prep & Daily Operations – 50% Assist the Lead Cook in overseeing daily kitchen operations, receiving orders, ensuring a smooth workflow, timely food preparation, and consistent quality. Oversee Eagle Cafe stocking for daily service. Execute daily prep lists and serve students with a positive attitude. Meet all meal requirements of students including special diets. Staff Training & Development – 10% Play a key role in training new and existing staff on proper kitchen techniques, safety protocol, recipe adherence, and equipment usage, ensuring the team is proficient and can support each other. Safety & Sanitation – 10% Uphold the standards of food safety and sanitation, food storage, and preparation methods to ensure compliance with health regulations. Complete daily back of house checklists, manage dishwashing duties, and ensure all deliveries are put away according to FIFO (First In, First Out) standards. Documentation – 10% Assist in filling out production logs, proper food storage, and tracking “leftover vs. Waste". Team Support – 20% Maintain full knowledge of the Lead Cook’s duties to provide seamless coverage as the backup lead when necessary. 5% Serve as the primary coverage for any absent team member on short notice. Manage sales, Point-of-Sale, restocking inventory, and operate the barista station. Process student transactions, maintain proper cash handling, and reconcile daily sales accurately using the POS system. Maintain daily effective communication with the Lead Cook and front-of-house and back-of-house teams. Requirements Education: Required Education: High School Diploma. Experience: Required Experience: 2+ Years Experience in food preparation and customer service. Skills: Supervisory skills to guide and motivate staff and communicate effectively. The ability to switch between roles quickly and efficiently based on daily needs and unexpected circumstances. Identify and address issues related to staffing, equipment, or product quality, troubleshooting roadblocks to efficiency as they arise. Comfortable with cash handling and basic math for POS operations. Willingness to learn lead-level responsibilities and take initiative. Travel: Some local travel may be required. Working Conditions: This job operates in a commercial kitchen environment and will routinely use standard kitchen and office equipment such as commercial ovens, mixers, dishwasher, various kitchen prep utensils, IPads, computers, photocopiers, and smartphones. Employees must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to repetitively lift at least 40 –50 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs regularly. Must wear apron, hair covering, and non-slip shoes. The work environment also involves working in a K-12 Private Christian School and Evangelical Church environment and all employees are expected to have a demonstrated and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Working Hours: Typically, employees are expected to work during normal hours and days of business, between Monday and Friday. Specific expectations for each position will be communicated by the supervisor of this position. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required. This position works 40 hours per week and 10 months of the year.
