Due to retirement an exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the orthopaedic inpatient occupational therapy team in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. The team has a strong focus on delivering high quality multidisciplinary integrated working and aims to provide evidence-based practice and best patient experience possible to all patients across the whole pathway. You will have a crucial role in supporting team to ensure patients admitted to orthopaedics receive the expected high standards of care throughout their journey.
You will carry a complex clinical caseload and be responsible for providing daily support to the multi-skilled team and contribute to the training, leadership, education and development of the Occupational Therapy team. You must be able to demonstrate complex clinical reasoning, extensive relevant experience and sound knowledge of Occupational Therapy assessment, acute management, treatment and rehabilitation in line with the evidence base and best practice. You should have demonstrable advanced clinical skills/knowledge, from postgraduate courses/in service, as evidenced in your Continued Professional Development portfolio with comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines / standards across the relevant specialities. You will have responsibility for the supervision, education and development of more junior staff, support workers and students within the speciality, provide a specialised resource to other healthcare staff/patients/carers and have an active involvement in Clinical Governance, Clinical Audit, Clinical Effectiveness and Research. The department has strong links with universities providing student placements primarily from Edinburgh and Aberdeen.

This post provides the potential to enhance your knowledge and skills in a busy and fast paced environment with a focus on evidence-based assessment and rehabilitation, early supported discharge, multi-professional integrated working and continued professional development.
Allied Health Professions are currently moving to 7 days working and this post will require weekend working in line with the evidence base and the strategic direction of NHS Tayside. This is for improved patient outcomes and to maximise a person-centred equitable approach to care. All new contracts for AHP staff will be for a 7-day service/rota to enable the service to be ready to move to a safe and effective 7 day service.
