Job Description Location: Geraldton Port Roster: 7 Days, 7 Off, 7 Nights, 7 Off Employment Type: Fulltime Permanent Fenix is seeking a motivated and capable Team Lead – Port Operations to support the safe and efficient execution of our growing port operation. This role is suited to an experienced operator looking to take the next step into leadership, or an existing frontline leader with experience in mining, logistics, port operations, or bulk materials handling. As a Team Leader, you will play a critical role in coordinating daily operational activities, supporting crews, driving accountability, and ensuring operational plans are executed safely and efficiently. This is a hands-on leadership position with a strong field presence and a clear development pathway toward Operations Supervisor. Key Responsibilities Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, you will: Coordinate and oversee daily operational activities across the shift. Support vessel loading operations and the operation of fixed and mobile plant, truck unloaders and storage sheds. Assist with workforce deployment, task allocation and the efficient utilisation of personnel and equipment. Support shutdown preparation, maintenance planning and operational reliability initiatives. Monitor operational performance, identify improvement opportunities and implement practical solutions to enhance efficiency. Promote accountability for equipment care, pre-start inspections, defect reporting, housekeeping and adherence to operational standards. Support the onboarding, training and development of operational personnel, including new and casual employees. Coordinate contractors and liaise effectively with operational stakeholders. Participate in vessel planning meetings, post-vessel debriefs and operational reviews. Serve as the primary point of contact for operational issues during the shift, ensuring timely communication and escalation of risks and disruptions. Promote a positive safety culture through active participation in pre-starts, safety interactions and compliance with site procedures. About You You are a proactive leader who enjoys working with people, solving problems, and maintaining high operational standards. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate: Strong operational knowledge within mining, logistics, port operations, or heavy industry. Effective leadership and communication skills. The ability to coordinate people, equipment, and operational priorities. A commitment to safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Strong planning and problem-solving capability. The ability to maintain a visible leadership presence in the field. Essential Experience within mining, port, logistics, bulk handling, or similar operational environments. Demonstrated leadership capability. Hold a Section 26 qualification or be actively working towards obtaining one. Strong understanding of operational risk management and safe work practices. Desirable Previous Team Leader, Leading Hand, or Supervisory experience. Mobile plant operating experience. Shiploading or bulk materials handling experience.
