KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Participate in the proposal phase of the project with defining and selecting of feasible marine system configurations and components.
  • Set up functional technical specifications for suppliers and subcontractors based upon customer and design requirements.
  • Performs technical evaluations of quotations from suppliers in close cooperation with the purchasing department.
  • Ensure full compliance to all applicable requirements in close collaboration with suppliers during technical discussions and within agreed schedules, required quality and cost limits.
  • Collect and review supplier engineering information and documentation such as mechanical drawings, schematics, calculations, electrical diagrams, etc.
  • Actively seek multi-disciplinary interaction to ensure solutions are in the projects’ overall best interest.
  • Implement improvements for integration of delivered components/systems into the ship’s design and other marine systems in close cooperation with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Compose and support drafting of technical and functional specification documents such as System Description Statements, Installation and alignment procedures, HAT, and SAT procedures.
  • Independently verifies technical performance of products and systems such as dynamic simulations, inspection of equipment at supplier premises, FAT’s and during installation on board.
  • Occasionally offers technical support during STW, HAT and SAT at the building yard.
  • Ensures good working relationship with technical representatives of suppliers and customer.
  • Coach colleagues and take part in design checks and reviews to guarantee the required quality.
  • Contribute to evaluation and/or continuous improvement processes and development, transfer, and retention of knowledge within the department.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in a relevant technical field combined with at least three years of experience in marine systems, ideally in naval shipbuilding, offshore, or commercial shipbuilding sectors.
  • Proven track record of working on complex projects, including managing statutory bodies, third-party vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Strong competencies in customer orientation, results and quality focus, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving.
  • Fluency in both Dutch and English both written and verbal.
  • Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with (also) a non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible given the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.

THE ROLE

As the Senior Integration Engineer Marine Systems at Damen Naval you will be responsible for designing and integrating complex marine systems into our naval vessels, working closely with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams throughout the engineering phase.
From defining system configurations to ensuring seamless component integration, you will play a key role in developing innovative new ships and enhancing existing vessels. You will collaborate across multiple disciplines and support the entire lifecycle of naval projects, from proposal and acquisition to production and testing.
