ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Team-Leader Social Worker for East Gippsland region VIC, you will play an integral role in the organisations ability to support at risk young people through their peer-developed programs. You will provide management and oversight to the integrated ‘youth hub’ of Social Workers, Youth Workers and Peer Worker Trainees across the region. The program is delivered with youth, supported by expert adults and is centred around individual support, weekend workshops, and weekly support groups.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Provide direct support and supervision to the regions Social Workers, Youth Workers and Peer Worker Trainees (lived-experience workers), as well as maintain a caseload of young people with whom you provide direct support to
- Work closely and collaboratively within community, referring agencies and service providers as a key stakeholder in raising the company profile and embed its programs within the region
- Ensure that KPIs for the region are being met through case management, Weekend Workshops and support groups across your regions Social Workers and Peer Worker Trainees
- Provide high-quality safe and effective support to young people, within the context of policies, procedures, and legislation
- Provide secondary consultation to the regions Social Workers, Youth Workers and Peer Worker Trainees in the context of working through practice challenges including but not limited to mandatory reporting, managing challenging behaviours, risk assessment as well as best practice intervention
- Participate in supervision (operational and clinical) to ensure that a high-level of practice is delivered and maintained
- Attend all Weekend Workshops and Weekly Support Groups, supporting the young people in your region
- Maintain high standards in the record keeping of client records, ensuring that case records are kept up to date and are accurate.
- Undertake risk assessments on young people and provide appropriate follow-up and intervention
To be considered for this role, you will need to have the following attributes as a minimum:
- Eligibility for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- 5+ years’ experience working with vulnerable populations within a case management lens
- Demonstratable supervisory experience preferably in the child, youth and family sector
- Extensive knowledge of the challenges and issues experienced by young people (12-25) affected by trauma, and the interventions required including but not limited to mandatory reporting, risk assessments etc…
- Strong communication skills with experience developing community networks and establish/increase community engagement
- Sound risk assessment skills including but not limited to suicide risk, psychological distress and mandatory reporting
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work autonomously exercising advanced practitioner level skill
