JOB OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Team Leader to join our specialist residential children’s home, supporting young people aged 6 to 11 with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This is a rewarding opportunity to lead a team making a real difference in the lives of children with complex needs, providing them with structure, care, and the chance to thrive in a safe and supportive environment.
As Team Leader, you will play a key role in guiding and supervising a team of residential care staff, ensuring that every child receives tailored, consistent, and therapeutic care. You will help implement behaviour support strategies, maintain clear routines, and promote positive emotional development, all while upholding the highest safeguarding and regulatory standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – essential.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a residential childcare setting, including at least 1 year in a senior or team leader role.
  • Proven experience working with children with LD, ADHD, autism, and complex behaviours.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, SEND frameworks, and Ofsted standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Calm, confident, and nurturing approach to behaviour support.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily shifts and coordinate care routines to meet each child’s individual needs.
  • Provide ongoing supervision, mentorship, and development for support staff.
  • Work closely with external professionals (e.g., SENCOs, therapists, CAMHS) to support personalised care plans and EHCP outcomes.
  • Foster a warm, structured, and sensory-aware environment that supports regulation and learning.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies are followed and all incidents are appropriately recorded and managed.
  • Support the emotional and behavioural development of children using therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Contribute to ongoing service improvement, including Ofsted readiness and quality assurance processes.
