POSITION OVERVIEW

Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Council’s asset management strategies and
accompanying plans and policies supported by best practice strategies, plans, processes, and systems to
improve asset management competency across the organisation and to support an integrated, holistic and
strategic framework for asset management for Council.
This position is accountable for the provision of leadership, development and mentorship to the Assets team
that promotes high quality customer service and the delivery of optimal asset management services that fulfills
Council’s legislative, service levels and community expectations.

CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

  • Influence an agenda of high quality and consistent customer service delivery to internal and external
    stakeholders, prioritising customer experience whilst balancing the legislative and project requirements

associated with assets management.

  • Lead the effective delivery of the asset management function in accordance with adopted, legislated,

and organisational functional levels of service.

  • Supply appropriate specialist and timely information and advice to external and internal customers.
  • Successfully and effectively represent the asset management section of Council on relevant external and

internal working groups.

SPECIALIST/TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Extensive knowledge and application of asset management principles and
    practices, including data registration, condition assessment, risk assessment,
    maintenance practices, levels of services, asset re-evaluation/depreciation,

forward planning and asset management strategies.

  • Ability to develop strategic responses and manage programs, strategies and

policies which address existing and emerging infrastructure issues.

  • Ability to find solutions to complex asset and infrastructure problems including the

ability to select appropriate methods and techniques to do so, based on sound

judgement.

  • High level knowledge and understanding of budgeting coupled with strong

working knowledge and skills in sound asset accounting.

  • Sound working knowledge of various asset management applications and

systems.

  • Sound ability to effectively collate and analyse data, and to drive the formulation

of policy and strategy.

  • Understanding of how various sectors of the community impact on and interact

with Council, particularly in relation to asset management and the works

programs.

  • Sound negotiation and conflict management skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Asset Management or related discipline and/or

significant prior experience in a project management/asset management role.

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of asset

management frameworks, assessments techniques and continuous improvement

principles.

  • Comprehensive experience in providing high level asset management related

technical advice.

  • Experience in managing diverse infrastructure assets and driving the application of

asset management frameworks.

  • Experience in business planning, resource planning and budget management.
  • Experience in successfully leading a team of professionals.

  • Professional asset management experience in a senior or leadership role.

Desirable

  • Experience in the management and support of mobile application software
  • Local Government experience
