Are you passionate about empowering communities and leading innovative approaches to employment support? We’re looking for a skilled and motivated IAG Team Leader to help make Barnsley the place of possibilities by managing a dynamic team of advisors and delivering high-impact, externally funded programmes.
As part of our Employment and Skills service, you’ll lead a team of Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) advisors working across community and voluntary settings throughout the borough. You’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering services that support residents into education, training, and employment, while ensuring quality, compliance, and continuous improvement as per the Pathways to Work Commission.

Pensions Regulations have provisions to reduce pension payments in certain circumstances of those who return to work within local government service. If you are in receipt of a pension upon commencing employment with the authority, this may affect your pension entitlements and you should therefore seek advice from the relevant Pensions Authority
YOUR ROLE IN OUR JOURNEY
You’ll be responsible for the operational management of complex programmes, ensuring performance targets are met and services are aligned with local and national priorities. You’ll provide specialist guidance to frontline practitioners, oversee quality assurance processes, and most importantly, build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders across the learning and skills ecosystem.
This is a leadership role that requires strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to inclusive economic growth. You’ll be instrumental in helping Barnsley residents overcome barriers to employment and thrive in a changing labour market.
