Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Together with families and support providers, we support people with a disability to reduce behaviours of concern, improve wellbeing and quality of life. Through positive behaviour support strategies and collaboration, we support NDIS participants to gain control, independence and to make positive lifestyle changes.

Reporting to our Behaviour Support Practice Lead, you will support and mentor a team of Behaviour Support Practitioners to ensure a quality service is delivered to NDIS participants in accordance with their individual NDIS plan and regulatory requirements. If you are an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner then this could be the role for you! Other key duties will include:

  • Guiding and coaching practitioners and reviewing positive behaviour support plans with support from your Practice Lead
  • Encouraging a team-oriented approach to evaluation of service delivery
  • Monitoring your teams’ goals and objectives throughout the year and participating in annual performance reviews
  • Working closely with the team to meet output targets whilst ensuring best practice and excellent stakeholder relationships
  • Developing partnerships with service providers, community agencies and government bodies to get the best outcome for our participants
  • Providing professional information and advice to people with disability, families, staff and managers regarding evidence-based approaches to reduce the impact of challenging behaviour

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Completed degree qualification (or higher) in Psychology, Social Work, Developmental Education, Counselling or similar - a must
  • Experience mentoring behaviour support practitioners and peer reviewing behaviour support plans
  • An in depth understanding of good clinical practice, the jurisdictional requirements in your state and the context in which behaviour support is provided
  • Understanding of the regulatory requirements as they apply to Behaviour Support
  • Knowledge of contemporary practices and philosophies in relation to service provision for people with intellectual and/or cognitive disabilities
  • Experience as a behaviour support practitioner at a minimum of Core capability and able to fulfill the requirements for endorsement as a Proficient Practitioner
  • Strong administration and computer skills, experienced in MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook
