SUMMARY:

The team leader is responsible for individual needs assessment and developing short and long term goals. The Youth Worker is also responsible for the overall planning and monitoring of the Youth Council and Participant recruitment.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial needs assessment, intake and orientation of new participants.
  • Create short- and long-term goals for participants based on the needs assessment.
  • Maintain teen participant folders and application.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans for Youth Council and youth leadership activities and special initiatives.
  • Collect participant’s report cards to monitor their educational progress and keep track of youth academic life.
  • Monitor and track participant attendance and conduct outreach to support retention.
  • Assist with the recruitment of teen participants.
  • Co-facilitate Parent Meetings
  • Responsible for keeping the Program Director and Assistant Director informed of any changes and abnormalities that may occur.
  • Submit weekly reports to the Program Director and Assistant Director on a timely basis.
  • Attend all program staff meetings, trainings, and special events.
  • Assist other staff when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary: $18 - $19 per hour or $32,760 or $34,580 annually.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED; or working towards an AA or BA degree preferred.
  • 2 years Youth Worker experience.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and providing one on one peer mediation preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with families who face exceptional challenges.
  • Excellent social skills demonstrative of empathy and support.
