JOB INTRODUCTION

Our CCTV / Control Room Team plays a vital role in maintaining community safety, protecting council assets, and supporting frontline staff. Operating 24/7, 365 days a year, the team monitors a wide network of public space CCTV cameras, alarm systems, lone worker safety devices, and emergency alerts across the district.
Working closely with the police, emergency services, and internal council departments, the team helps prevent crime and anti-social behaviour, coordinates rapid responses to incidents, and provides crucial evidence to support investigations and enforcement action.
This is a fast-paced, high-responsibility environment where attention to detail, professionalism, and a strong sense of public duty are essential. As part of a dedicated and skilled team, you’ll be at the centre of efforts to keep our residents, staff, and public spaces safe.
We are looking for a CCTV/Control Room Team Leader to join our CCTV team. You’ll play a crucial role in managing a 24/7 control room operation, supporting public safety through the effective use of CCTV monitoring, lone worker systems, emergency alarms, and incident response coordination. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city.

The main responsibilities of this role:

  • Lead and supervise a team of CCTV operators and control room staff, ensuring high performance and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the control room, including shift management and system checks.
  • Monitor public space CCTV, alarm systems, and lone worker safety platforms to detect and respond to incidents.
  • Act as the first point of contact for critical incidents, coordinating with emergency services, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure accurate recording and reporting of incidents, producing evidence for legal or enforcement purposes.
  • Maintain high standards of data protection, privacy, and confidentiality in line with the Surveillance Camera Code of Practice and GDPR.
  • Support the development and training of staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

An enhanced disclosure check with the Disclosure and Barring Service will be undertaken for this post.
