SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Management, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 8+ years’ experience in waste, resource recovery, and circular economy sustainability.
  • Proven track record of analysing and improving business processes and developing circular economy strategies.
  • Extensive experience in proposal and grant applications.
  • Strong commercial and business development skills, coupled with a track record of identifying and securing new work, as well as supporting and leading complex proposals and consultancy projects.
  • Professional communication skills, and experience of collaborating with diverse stakeholders / au- audiences and facilitating agreement between conflicting parties.
  • Possesses a good network of contacts across NSW, Victoria and/or Queensland at management and/or operational level and ideally be recognised as an industry leader.
  • International circular economy experience.
  • An ability to build relationships internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated team management experience with the ability to motivate staff to achieve high performance.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and understanding of the fundamentals of a consulting business.
  • Flexible approach, including willingness and ability to work on a wide range of topics.
  • Data analysis and modelling experience.
  • Strong excel and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent report writing skills.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Team Leader, & Principal Consultant -Circular Economy will lead MRA’s Circular Economy team, working closely with clients to develop and implement strategies that optimise resource efficiency, improve operational processes, and deliver sustainability and circular economy outcomes. This role focuses on providing strategic advice, analysing systems and structures, and recommending tailored solutions to achieve organisational goals and align with circular economy principles.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Development of Objectives and Strategies:

  • Assist clients in developing objectives, strategies, and plans to achieve organisational efficiency, sustainability outcomes, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide advice on aligning operational processes with circular economy principles to maximise resource efficiency.

Organisational Review and Analysis:

  • Conduct detailed analyses of client organisations, including workflows, records, reports, and procedures, to identify areas for improvement.
  • Observe systems at all organisational levels and engage with staff to identify inefficiencies and challenges.

Solution Development and Implementation:

  • Prepare and recommend strategies to optimise workflows, redefine job functions, and improve organisational efficiency.
  • Assist in implementing approved recommendations, drafting revised procedures, and issuing updated documentation.

Client Engagement and Advisory:

  • Meet with clients to introduce MRA’s services, discuss consultancy objectives, and define project scopes and methodologies.
  • Manage client expectations and provide ongoing advice to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.

Project Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
  • Develop project methodologies, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to agreed deliverables.

Capacity Building and Knowledge Sharing:

  • Mentor and support team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
  • Prepare technical reports, analyse data, and present findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.

Business Development:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the government, private, and NGO sectors.
  • Identify new business opportunities and prepare robust proposals to secure future work.
