Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – West Region, Children’s Services provide Centre-based respite and community-based outreach services using a person-centered approach to meet the needs of children with Intellectual Disabilities. The vision of the service is to support children to achieve a full and valued life in their local community. Our aim is to provide a quality service that promotes the independence and potential of each individual we support at all stages of their lives.
We wish to recruit innovative, creative and motivated people who will relish the opportunity to assist in achieving this vision as part of a team. We are looking for people who will be flexible and adapt to the needs of particular individuals they support and are open to change.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates must have - A current Live Register Certificate from the NMBI (An Bord Altranais) is an essential requirement; RNID/RMHN qualification is desirable.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience gained in services for people with intellectual disabilities. Experience working with children with autism, complex medical needs/sensory needs and supporting positive behaviour is an advantage.
  • A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish Roads is an essential requirement. It may also be necessary for the appointee to obtain a Class D1 Driving Licence (if not already in possession of one). Assistance will be given towards this purpose of obtaining a class D1 licence.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Candidates must have experience of leading and supporting a team.
  • Candidates must demonstrate leadership and planning skills, along with the ability to set, action and follow through with identifying goals for each individual child in partnership with parents.
  • Candidates must have the ability to exercise good judgement, discretion, confidentiality, be creative, self-motivated, communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms, and co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy.
  • Candidates must promote a welcoming positive atmosphere for staff, children and visitors who use the building.
  • Candidates must set a quality standard in accordance with Tusla regulations that satisfy inspections.
  • Candidates must have a full clean driving licence.
  • Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have a pivotal role in managing the day to day delivery of services. The CNM1 must provide leadership in the development of the service in line with Personal Outcomes Measures and future service requirements. The Cnm1 must be familiar with Tusla Childcare regulations 2016 and be the person in charge of the service, Ensuring the holistic wellbeing of children and have excellent communication skills linking with families and members of the MDT.
